2020 CATE Conference and update on Coronavirus (COVID-19) Postponed

CATE 2020 acknowledges the important public health considerations caused by the concerns of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

We had to postpone Christchurch because we were informed that the venue, Christchurch Convention Centre, Te Pae, will not be ready for 2020 as construction is on hold during the COVID-19 lockdown. Given the ongoing uncertainty around the pandemic, we thought it best to make a decision early, so that those affected can plan accordingly. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this causes.

In addition, please review Ministry of Health updates

We will hold our 2021 Conference in Blenheim, at Marlborough Convention Centre, from Wednesday 24 November to Friday 26 November 2021.

CATE 2021 - now moved to Blenheim

In line with the generally disrupted times we now live in, we have received the unfortunate news that the Christchurch event venue, Te Pae, will probably not be ready by November 2021. This is due to COVID-19 disrupting supply of materials and components for the build. Obviously when planning an event of the size and complexity of a CATE Conference, absolute certainty is required. Therefore, we have made the decision to postpone the event again. With everything going to plan, the event will take place in November 2022.

The silver lining is that the Marlborough region chaired by Cheryl West, has stepped up to offer a conference in Blenheim on the same dates Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 November at the Marlborough Convention Centre. This is exciting news and I thank Canterbury’s Nicole and Marlborough’s Cheryl for their flexibility and collegiality.
